HOTW #30...Nothing To Wear

This week's Highlight of the Week certainly didn't start out as a highlight. As a self confessed shopaholic, I can quite happily purchase clothes, shoes, handbags and unnecessary items for the home (or crap as the Hubster calls it) with effortless ease. But ask me to find an outfit for a formal or special occasion and I'm sent into a negative slump and I always put off such a mammoth task until the very last minute. Finding the "perfect" outfit for the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards has been a mission like no other.

When I discovered that I'd been nominated for an actual blogging award and was going to be attending a real fancy awards ceremony- you'd think I would have got my butt in gear and sorted myself out a little sooner. Na-ah. Instead I've spent the last week frantically scrolling through zillions upon zillions of dresses online, receiving an unhealthy amount of home deliveries (much to the annoyance of the Hubster! Oops!) and have evidently turned our spare bedroom into a scene from Goldilocks and The Raided Department Store. Piles of dresses are strewn everywhere that are either too tight, too big (OK so there's only one of these- but it counts!), too short, too casual, too boring or too uncomfortable...I've tried on so many dresses this week that I've spent more time naked than fully clothed in between all the changes. Ugh.

So yesterday, on the verge of tears and one all mighty tantrum, I called in the reinforcements- my Mum. If there's anyone who knows what I'll like, what I'll hate and what I'll be comfortable in- it's Mum and so as soon as the shops opened, off we went on an emergency shopping spree to find the perfect outfit for my very first awards ceremony. She didn't let me down. Over the years we've refined our shopping tactics like an art form, as we weave in and out of the aisles we're in tune with what we are in search of, and rarely do we come home unsuccessful. Seventeen dresses and three changing room trips later- we'd found it. Hurrah. I am finally sorted and I have a dress that I love and most importantly feel comfortable in...it's all swishy and pretty and I can't wait to wear it tomorrow night. Yay.

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me to get this far. A year ago I never dreamed I'd been getting all dressed up for a blogging awards ceremony and meeting lots of other fabulous bloggers. But whatever happens tomorrow night- I'm just chuffed that I'm being given the opportunity to be a part of something so fabulous within the blogging world, and I can't wait to share it with my lovely readers. Wish me luck!

Until next time,

With Love & Something to Wear,
