Hands up, who always makes New Years Resolutions and hardly ever conquers them, hence you find yourselves having the old same ones each and every year? Both my hands are up.
My friend and I used to meet after Christmas every year for spot of sale shopping and over lunch we’d always jot down a list of resolutions for the coming year. The top on our list always being ‘Save Money’, followed by ‘Lose Weight’, whilst we were ironically surrounded by unnecessary sale purchases and stuffing our faces with loaded potato skins and burgers with fries. Good start hey.
But this year is different. I’m now looking at this New Year through the eyes of a thirty year old and I’ve realised that New Year’s Resolutions suck. There is just no point setting resolutions like ‘be more adventurous’ and ‘make gluten free bread from scratch’. I’m not likely to start pole dancing or go travelling anytime soon, (I can’t lift my body weight and I certainly couldn’t live out of a backpack for three months) and I’m even less likely to start baking as much as my inner goddess is willing me too. It just ain’t going to happen. So this year I’ve decided to make a list of realistic goals for the year ahead. Nothing crazy or unattainable, just goals that if I can’t achieve them, no biggy, life will still go on and I won’t be labelled a failure either.

Fun Fitness Fanatics
I use the word ‘Fun’ loosely, that’s me trying to sound positive, something of which I struggle with when it comes to exercise. You can read all about my exercise excuses here. But I’ve always wanted to try that hot and sweaty yoga whatsit class or go for a “hike” like Khloe Kardashian is always doing…they sound like new and exciting ways of exercising…I might regret this one, but I’ll give anything a go!

Hairy Scary…it’s time for a change.
I’m going to do it. I mean it this time. I’m definitely going to do it. I’m going to get that dip dye thingy done on my locks. If it all goes horridly wrong, I’m blaming Lauren Conrad as it’s a photograph of her barnet I’m showing to my hairdresser. I’ve been a full on highlighted blonde now since I was sixteen, but I feel like it’s time for a change. What this space…!

Save some money.
So this is a reoccurring goal, but I need to do something about this before the Hubster asks how much money I’ve saved for our dream house. I’m terrible when it comes to money. I have a ‘see something, I get it’ kind of attitude which isn’t great. Personally I blame the internet…if I wasn’t browsing other people blogs, nosing through social media or being teased with emails from my favourite stores, I’d be OK. But as it happens, I have the will power of a alligator when it comes to spending… I see something…a few clicks and SNAP! It’s mine…delivery 2-3 working days…oops.
Ditch the Diet Coke
Since the Detox I’ve pretty much cut out the diet fizz and have been reading more about why it’s not good for you, regardless of what the commercial slimming programs preach. I went for years relying on this stuff to suppress hunger and replace snacks, but as it turns out, its really bad for your body. I’ve done a little more digging and here are a list of the Side Effects of Diet Soda and why we should perhaps ditch the Diet Coke. Sorry hunk mowing the lawn on the adverts…I’m going to have a sparkling water break instead, I’d quite like to keep my teeth and few organs in tact.
Do something good
I have a few ideas in mind, but this year I would definitely like to give blood, sign up for Race for Life and also hold a Macmillan Cancer Care coffee morning to raise funds for a good cause.

Spice it up in the Kitchen
I mean this literally, you saucy devils! I have a tendency to discover a new dish that I can cook (without making anyone sick or burning the place down) and then I stick to it for about a year (or longer). My nearest and dearest all know about my famous Mexican Chicken Bake… (which I should really blog about- it’s a hit!) it was my go to dish about five years. Last year was the year of the Salmon Risotto which I have perfected and cooked the life out of, so this year I need to find something new…suggestions anyone?
That’s enough to keep me going until at least June, I wouldn’t want to over do it.
