Birchbox…February 2014 Review

Oh how I love my Saturday morning Birchbox pamper sessions. This months box is themed ‘We Love Your Style’ in honour of London Fashion Week and the box is bursting with gorgeous samples and fashionable quotes from the bees knees in the industry. My favourite quote is “Being happy never goes out of style” (Lilly Pulitzer) which seems appropriate now that the sun has decided to show it’s face, everyone seems to be just a little more perkier than this time last week. Come on spring, we’re ready for you! Until then, I hope you enjoy this exciting collection of beauty delights…

Urban Veda Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish

As a loyal lover of Liz Earle, it would have to be an excellent product for me to step away from my beloved Hot Cloth Cleanser and change my face wash for a week… and an excellent product this one turned out to be. Firstly this it smells AMAZING. To the point where I’d like to have this scent in a candle, a room spray, a deodorant and a perfume, I love it! But aside from it’s yummy scent, the product has immediate positive effects on the face. According to Birchbox, this exfoliating face polish uses natural ingredients to help “protect your skin from the pollution of the modern world”, which sounds unrealistic, but it honestly feels like it does what it sets out to achieve. I’ve been using it twice a day in the shower and it has left my face feeling soft and revitalised. I love it.

Miss Enchanting’s Verdict: 5/5

It smells good and it does good. Your face will be left feeling not only refreshed and cleansed, but really clean and it’s only £8.99 a tube. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a new facial cleanser with instant results.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

This uber cool brand has designed its eyeliner, retailed at £12.00, to create a perfect ‘feline flick’ and is said to be a firm favourite of fashionista Alexa Chung. Thankfully Birchbox are one step ahead of the game and included a step-by-step guide on how to apply the liner- very useful.

Miss Enchanting’s Verdict: 2/5

Personally I’ve never been a fan of liquid eyeliners, probably because I’ve never really a) practiced using one enough and b) had the patience or the time to faff about tidying up the Tyson/Panda look I can effortlessly create. Consequently I’ve spent most of this week reaching for the make up remover, so I’d recommend this product to anyone who is a dab hand at applying a liquid eyeliner, as for me, I’ll save this one for Halloween.

Gilchrist & Soames Shower Gel

Sophistication in a bottle. This refreshing shower gel leaves your skin feeling clean, fresh and nourished and it gives your bathroom a touch of five star hotel class!

Miss Enchanting’s Verdict: 3/5

Who doesn’t like a product in their bathroom that makes them feel like they are in a snazzy hotel? The product itself smells amazing and it lingered long after the shower too, which is always a bonus. At £13.75 a bottle, this stylish shower gel would be a real treat!

Leighton Denny- Purely Plutonic Nail Varnish

This easy to apply, long lasting and chip resistant nail varnish, not only looks stylish, but it glides on the nails leaving a smooth, shiny finish.

Miss Enchanting’s Verdict: 3/5

Personally, I wouldn’t have chosen this colour nail varnish and I do feel like my toes nails are currently looking like something only a character from X-Men would wear, but they do have a range of other gorgeous colours to choose from. I do believe that you get what you pay for (like most things) when it comes to nail varnishes. If there’s a colour you love, it’s always worth splurging out on a long lasting brand, like Leighton Denny and each bottle retails at £11.00. The packaging is really stylish and the applicator itself it great, so this is a brand I would consider purchasing in the future. Top Tip: before use, roll the bottle between your hands to mix up the varnish, never shake as this causes air bubbles in the bottle! I never knew this…!

Beauty Protector Protect & Oil

Applied to damp or wet hair, this lightweight oil is intended to protect your hair from heat and UV damage.

Miss Enchanting’s Verdict: 4/5

As a lover of hair treatment oils (I’ve been using this product  for a while now) I was keen to give this little beauty a go to see if it would make a difference to my  newly ombre-d locks and I was actually really impressed. I used 2-3 drops on damp hair before blow drying then another drop or two after straightening my hair just to give it a smooth finish. It never left my hair feeling tacky or greasy which is what some oils can do and I loved how smooth my hair felt even a day or two after washing. A great hair care product, retailed at £16.00 that I would highly recommend.

Another fabulous collection of beauty products from Birchbox this month and if you fancy treating yourself to one of these beauties, I would definitely recommend giving the Urban Veda Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish a go! With it’s gorgeous long lasting scent and instant results, you can’t really go wrong!

Have you tried and tested any of this months products?

Until next time,

With Love & Style,

Katie x
