HOTW #10…An Afternoon at Tasha’s Tearoom

Last week, my friend Sarah suggested that we try out a new tea room that she’d heard great things about which offered homemade gluten free cakes. She didn’t need to ask me twice…within two minutes we’d arranged a date and a time to mosey on down to Tasha’s Tearoom in Cheam Village. It turned out to be a lovely afternoon with my gorgeous girlies, filled with laughter, great food and delicious cakes, so this little outing definitely made my Highlight of the Week.

On entering Tasha’s Tearoom, you immediately get the sense that its all shiny and new. The decor is cosy, but contemporary with cute shabby chic touches around the walls that give it a lovely homely feel. The staff were really friendly and so accommodating, that we all felt at ease. They even had a box full of toys and books to keep small children entertained during your visit. I know I lot of yummy mummies who really appreciate simple touches like this that make their much needed grown up coffee time more manageable.

Time for Tea at Tasha’s Tearoom

Something everyone Coeliac loves to see on a menu…options not option!

The ceilings were adorned with beautiful chandeliers

This made me chuckle…small things and all that…

Only us gluten free peeps know and appreciate that amazing feeling you get when you are given not just one gluten free option, but several to choose from and at Tasha’s Tea Room, I was really spoilt for choice! I was offered an array of filling options as well as a choice of white or brown bread or even a wrap…this has never happened in all my gluten free years- it was like all my birthdays had come at once! The food not only tasted yummy, but it was beautifully presented on pretty delicate china. After lunch, it was time for tea and whilst the girls opted for tasty homemade Cream Teas, I chose the gluten free Orange and Almond cake which was divine, complimented with green tea…the perfect afternoon treat! I absolutely loved the pretty cake forks which made you eat the cake like a lady (as opposed to scoffing the lot in seconds with your fingers…we’ve all done it!)

It’s always great to try out new places and when you find somewhere that caters so well for your dietary needs and makes everyone feel welcome, like Tasha’s Tearoom, you know you’ll visit again soon.

Until next time,
