All We Need Is Sleep…An eve Mattress Review

Everyone knows about our sleep issues. I’ve been harping on about it to anyone who stands still long enough to listen about our issues for years. Two years to be precise. Two whole years without any decent sleep. Two whole years knowing the date and what PJ’s you were wearing on the rare days when you actually got more than four uninterrupted hours of sleep.

We Are Tired Of Being Tired

We don’t have the energy to fight it anymore. Of course, there are the really bad days where collectively the babies have had us up around sixteen times a night. Yep, sixteen times. Those are the days where I’m so tired that I’m torn between the urge to rip my own face off and running away. I’ve never actually done either, it’s just an urge.

We’ve been waiting for two years for things to change and it’s evident now that we’ve just got to ride it out and make the best of the situation. All the night lights, lotions, routines, and lullaby stuffed animals on the planet can’t keep our toddler asleep. So as much as it hurts we have to accept that this is just life. For now at least anyway.

So when I received an email from eve mattress, sharing the exciting news about the launch of their new baby cot mattress, there was a part of me that thought, could this be it? We might have already tried four different cots and beds and countless other gimmicks…but could this be the thing that keeps our toddler asleep?

Then I slapped myself. OK not literally. But I wouldn’t put it past my deliriously knackered self.

Co-Sleeping Comfortably

But I had a thought…what if eve mattress could help us, help Elsie to sleep? Instead of struggling to get Elsie to sleep in a cot bed, we needed something bigger, more suited to us. We needed to be able to comfortably get her to sleep each night and comfortably get her back to sleep on the countless occasions that she wakes up throughout the night. We need to co-sleep with our non-sleeper. It’s the only way anyone is going to get an ounce of kip around here. We need a double mattress.

Thankfully the lovely people over at eve didn’t think I was bonkers or taking the mick, just desperate, and they kindly agreed to work with us anyway. I could kiss them…if I wasn’t so knackered.

eve…The Revolutionary Mattress

Dubbed as “The World’s Most Comfortable Mattress”, eve mattresses are handcrafted in the UK using a unique layering system of memory foam creating a cooler and flexible sleeping surface.

Their new baby cot mattresses are innovative in their design and tailored to support baby’s growth and movement. Suitable from birth, the mattress cover is created from innovative Cairfull® 3D fabric which is super soft, washable at 60°C and extremely breathable. It allows a free flow of air for a safer night’s sleep.

The creators of eve are so confident that you’ll love their mattresses, they offer a one-hundred-day home trial, free delivery, and a ten-year guarantee.

As a mattress, it is super comfortable, yet firm enough to support your bodies movement throughout the night. We’ve been using our eve double mattress now for just over four weeks now and even though our sleepless toddler troubles haven’t been cured, we are now able to manage our night-time woes better which has had a huge improvement for all of us. Elsie has absolutely embraced her new bed. It’s bouncy enough to jump on during the day and it’s comfortable enough to settle in at night- providing one of us is with her of course.

Finding Peace With No Sleep

Accepting our sleep issues has provided some sort of relief. Instead of fighting the situation, we are trying to live with it. Elsie’s issue with sleep has overshadowed our parenting experience in ways that will take us years to recover from. I’m always trying to appreciate all the little things that perhaps one day, I’ll miss…

The early morning snuggles. The way she nuzzles her soft fluffy head into us for cuddles.

Waking up to her big green eyes staring at me. I know that she’s been awake for some time and that she feels safe and secure when she sees one of us by her side.

Waking up to Numo nose strokes. Numo is her Bunny and she is obsessed with his ears.  She strokes her nose so softly and occasionally wakes us up with his worn down ears being tickled across our noses.

Being asked for “Milt (milk) Mumma!” first thing followed by “Peppa Pig Mumma!”

We are always there, never far away

Each morning I ask her if she had a nice sleep? She always replies with “Yeah Mumma..” even when I know that she didn’t. Her nights are restless and upsetting for everyone. She tosses and turns all night long. She calls out for us in such a panic that my heart races. We comfort her with tears streaming down her face.

All we can do is be there for her. Providing her with as much comfort and support as possible and ensuring that we can all get just a little sleep. Just enough sleep to get us through each day and thanks to eve, that’s become a little easier.

Here is a little video of Elsie being introduced to her new bed if you fancy a mooch…

Thank you so much to eve mattress for working with us.

I’m in the market for a new mattress at the moment as I’ve had mine for over seven years, but it’s making me unreasonably anxious! I love my current one so much, I can’t imagine finding one that is as comfy!

It really is a huge commitment and effort changing mattresses. Eve has a great money back policy if you’re not happy, but then you might have already got rid of your old one in the process! x
